Maureen McCann
Life doesn't get much better.Born 1959 in Darfield, rural mid Canterbury, New Zealand, Maureen McCann is a self-taught artist.
Maureen began painting professionally on a part time basis in 2004 and has been represented by leading South Island galleries including Fisher Fine Arts, Merivale Fine Arts, Queenstown Gallery of Fine Arts and Gallery Lavaud in Akaroa.
Her talent was recognised from an early age and she has won many awards from both her school days and in more recent times. Her works are in collections throughout New Zealand and worldwide.
The Christchurch earthquake of 2011 brought a temporary halt to Maureen’s art career and in late 2014, she and her husband made the decision to relocate to their Hokitika home on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island, to enjoy the west coast lifestyle and where Maureen is now committed to working as a full time artist.
She says “It has been my life long ambition to paint full time, now we live in the most beautiful west coast environment and I so enjoy working daily on my paintings, life doesn’t get much better.”
